Further to this, <b><a title=\"Irish Times Sleep Challenge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/life-and-style\/health-family\/the-results-are-in-we-are-not-getting-enough-sleep-1.1728413\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Irish Times Sleep Challenge<\/a><\/b> conducted in partnership with Health Founders found that 64% of respondents were poor sleepers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-381\" src=\"http:\/\/naturalsleep.ie\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/blog-woman-lying.jpg\" alt=\"Sleep Deprived Woman\" width=\"660\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thenaturalsleep.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/blog-woman-lying.jpg 660w, https:\/\/thenaturalsleep.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/blog-woman-lying-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With modern society placing more demands on our time, more and more people working late, studying into the dark hours, having fun or simply unable to unwind enough to sleep, we are fast becoming a nation of sleep-deprived people! \u00a0If you have fallen victim to burning the candle at both ends, here are some tips to help you get the most from your day, keep your boss and colleagues happy, kids on a schedule and your focus on your studies.<\/p>\n<h4><b>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><b>Drink Plenty of Water<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Before you charge over to the coffee machine, the easiest, cheapest and fastest cure to beat fatigue is in fact &#8211; water! According to Nancy Clark, R.D., author of the best-selling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nancyclarkrd.com\/\"><b>Nancy Clark&#8217;s Sports<i>\u00a0<\/i>Nutrition<i>\u00a0<\/i>Guidebook<\/b><\/a>, &#8220;Ample fluids keep energy-fuelling\u00a0<a title=\"Energy fuelling Nutrients\" href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/a-to-z-guides\/major-nutrients-in-food-topic-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>nutrient<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0flowing throughout the body&#8221;.\u00a0Coffee can help us stay awake but when consumed in large quantities, however, it can contribute to sleep problems. If caffeine is a must, try to keep to the recommended daily amount of 200mg to 300mg.<\/p>\n<h4><b>2. Make Sure to Move About<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Moving stimulates the brain to stay awake so override the sleep drive and move about as much as you can. When you feel yourself lagging, take a walk &#8211; even if you don\u2019t need to. Take the stairs, make a few extra trips to the water fountain or even just walk to the shop. Take in Some Sunshine<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Direct sun exposure helps to reset your biological clock &#8211; as well as put you in a better mood! Try and take a lunchtime walk outdoors to avoid afternoon slumps in energy and focus.\u00a0 If you cannot make it outside, consider working under the light of a high-intensity light bulb. Doing so can serve as a good substitute for sunlight exposure in terms of resetting your biological clock.<\/p>\n<p>Getting up in the morning can be a challenge, no matter how much sleep you&#8217;ve had.
